Regarding 4y 7m old child
Hi... my 4y 7m old son has recently taken to hitting and biting playfully.. at times they are hard. Kindly guide me how to dissuade him. Saying that hurting is bad , has not worked till now. Also, I can sense he is gettinv more and more depressed and thereby aggressive. I dont know if this is due to the lockdown or due to his age or if there is anything to do with gender. Kindly guide me on lightening up his mood and personality. Cannot go outdoors, covid is too high here... Coming to family situation, i am 6 months expecting , my whole of inlaws family and husband is covid positive. I'm staying with my parents who are over 70 and are not able to keep up with a 5yr old hyperactive  child...and i also cannot go back to my own place because we are settled in a different  city... I can't help with the situation much... but I don't want my kiddo to suffer because of this... Please help...

hi, I can understand your situation. I) you are pregnant II) away from your husband and his family III) your son’s behavior. ). Probably he is bored and irritated staying indoors and maybe missing his father and grandparents and his friend and neighborhood. If not so; Just observe his hitting and biting is related to his hunger. According to your writing I’m finding it’s a behavior issues and you have to work on it to reduce the frequency and later gradually reduce the frequency. Immediately after the hitting and biting incident You can sit across him and firmly tell you don’t like when he hits you or bites you and it hurts  you and gives you pain. Secondly tell, ‘the next time you will do this I will not give you your favorite toy/ eatable. You can show the corner of the house where he will stand for some time alone as a punishment (technique – time out)
Next Steps
For detailed behavior management of your child you can contact me through online appointment.
Health Tips
Spend quality time by playing with him and educating him about his new sibling.

If you’ve got a problem-child at home who can’t seem to sit still or listen mindfully, then that may be a sign of hyperactivity. They are always blessed with abundant energy, because of which they are always active. Being active is in fact, a state of good health and is normal for their age.  Hyperactivity in children is characterized by reckless behaviour and too much activity that stems from receiving a lack of sufficient attention. Such kids are prone to never get tired, can’t focus or have short attention spans in general. Hyperactivity in children results in poor academic performance, lack of socialization and in severe cases even complete withdrawal from participating in group activities, which in turn can lead to depression, frustration, and poor self-esteem.

Health Tips
Here are some tricks and tips on how to manage hyperactive child- Take him for a walk – Walking rejuvenates both mind and body and also enhances their focus. This would not only loosen his/her mind but also help him enjoy the scenery as he/she walks H- Kids 2 Try and calm your child down – Changing your child’s behaviour in a day or two is next to impossible. You can tell your child to sit still for 5 minutes and then gradually increase the time. Incentivizing them for this can help increase their interest in the activity. Play Games – Playing indoor and outdoor games with children may help a lot too. Try chess, ludo, chinese checkers and UNO with them. If they’re feeling a bit adventurous, then take them outdoors to play games like table tennis, badminton, soccer, and cricket. Change Diet – Give them fresh home cooked meals that are free of preservatives and artificial flavours. Eating clean goes a long way towards improving mood, lifestyle, and overall physical and mental wellbeing. Never Neglect – Don’t leave your kids all alone every day. Be involved with their schoolwork, daily activities and give them some of your attention which they so crave. Hyperactivity stems from receiving a lack of attention. By showing appreciation in moments when you catch them doing something good or productive, they calm down and are reassured of their efforts. Set up a daily routine – Setting up a routine for your child is really important and this will help them be disciplined and they would get accustomed to this behaviour. This will help reduce anxiety and restlessness.

Probably, yes, he is bored and irritated staying up indoors.maybe he is missing his friends back in your husband's house/area/apartment.. 1. Spend time with him by playing with him and engaging him.. 2. If you had mentioned as "NO" please stick to it. 3. Let his father also talk to him. Regularly everyday..
