Random spotting on Depo shot

Asked for Female, 24 Years

Hello, so I’ve been on the Depo injections for about 12 months, my fourth shot is actually next week. However I’ve been having light brown spotting which I haven’t had a period or spotting in about 9 months. I took a pregnancy test 2 months after having unprotected sex and negative. Could this just be a break through period?

Yes it is break through bleeding.It is the side effect of Depo provera.Donot discontinue it.Take next dose on time if you are using as contraception.You will not conceive with this injection because failure rate is low.
