Random itching

Asked for Male, 31 Years

For 3-4 days i have been having itching on the earlobes, back of the thigh, sides of the buttocks, few spots on the hands. The itching on the earlobes is also followed by inflammation. The itching on the hands, back of the thigh and sides of the buttocks also seem to look like prickly heat , that looks like mosquito bites. I have been having allegra and applying caladryl on the affected area. It subsides for a bit but returns again. Pleasr advise.

You are probably suffering from what Dermatologist call urticaria. Common causes are food allergy, infection or drugs taken for some condition. It presents with itching resulting in formation of red rashes which we call hives or wheals. Although in most cases cause remains unknown in spite of a thorough search. It can be symptomatically treated with medicines so that you do not get any new hives. The treatment should be prolonged until it resolves which usually takes 1 to 6 months.
