Rabies vaccine
On 12/2/25 I got scratch for a cat which was small scratch and I took rabies vaccine via intradermal for 0,3,14 & 28 days till 13/3/25. Again I got a scratch (again small scratch) from another cat on 14/3/25 I went to government hospital but they told no need of rabies vaccine again. But now I'm feeling scared because that cat is being aggressive for some time. What should I do?

What Should You Do After a Cat Scratch? 🔹 Mild Causes: ✅ If you've completed a full rabies vaccination course recently (as you did on 13/3/25), you are likely protected for a period of time. ✅ Minor scratches without bleeding are generally less risky for rabies transmission. 🔹 Serious Considerations: ⚠️ Aggressive behavior in the cat could be a sign of rabies, but it could also be due to other factors like stress or illness. ⚠️ If the scratch broke the skin and you're worried, post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) may be considered. What You Should Do? ✅ Monitor the Cat: Observe its behavior for 10 days. If it shows worsening aggression, unusual drooling, or dies, consult a healthcare provider immediately. ✅ Clean the Scratch: Wash thoroughly with soap and water, and apply an antiseptic. ✅ Consult a Doctor: If you're still feeling anxious, a healthcare provider can assess whether additional rabies shots are necessary. 👍 Like this info if it helped! 💙 📹 Need a detailed video consultation? After one round of vaccination your protected for the next 3 months so not to worry until the scratch did not bleed. If you get scratched after 3 months then you will need a booster Kindly avoid touching /petting stray cats as they can transmit not only rabies but a variety of skin diseases as well

Dear Patient,  I understand your concern about repeated cat scratches and rabies risk. Here’s a clear, step-by-step guide to address your situation:  1. Understanding Your Current Protection - You completed the full intradermal rabies vaccination series (0, 3, 14, 28 days) ending on **13/3/25**.  - This provides **immunity for at least 3 months** (per WHO guidelines).  - The **scratch on 14/3/25 falls within this **protected window, so no additional vaccines are typically required.  2. Evaluating the New Scratch**  - Risk factors for the aggressive cat:**    - If the cat is alive and healthy after 10 days, rabies is ruled out.    - If the cat is stray/unknown/unvaccinated, observe for abnormal behavior (e.g., aggression, drooling).  - For the scratch itself:   - Wash immediately with soap/water for 15 minutes (critical for risk reduction).    - If the skin was **broken**, monitor for signs of infection (redness, swelling).  3. When to Seek Further Care**  - No additional vaccine is needed unless:    - The cat dies/disappears within 10 days** (suspected rabies).    - You develop fever, tingling, or neurological symptoms (seek ER immediately).  - If anxiety persists**, a **booster dose** (single shot) may be considered for reassurance, though not medically mandatory.  4. Next Steps To alleviate your fears and ensure proper follow-up:  1. Try to locate/observe the cat for 10 days.  2. Consult a rabies specialistto discuss your concerns.  **For personalized advice, contact me on WhatsApp:** Eight Zero Zero Nine Eight Two One Three Three Two
