Rabies vaccination required?
An unknown stray dog approached me today, I petted the dog for sometime but as I started to leave, the dog tried to hold my hand with her mouth. Her teeth did touch my skin but there is no puncture wound or blood draw. I also sanitized my hand right after. Do I need to tak Rabies vaccination?

This is considered as Grade 1 bite as per WHO. Lick, scratch also comes under the category of vaccination even if the blood hasn’t oozed out. You have to finish the course of vaccination which is 0, 3, 7, 14, 28 days of bite. If the stray dog is alive for 10 days, then you can discontinue the 14 and 28th day vaccination.

For your case, take rabies vaccine on 0, 3, 7, 14, 28th days respectively under supervision.

Whenever any dog bites/licks the first & foremost thing to do is keep the area under running tap water/soap water/detergent water/povidone iodine water for at least 15-30mins.
This should be the primordial treatment.
