Query regarding tetanus
Hello just got heart with rusty iron pin in back of head..but not sure got scratched or not as not able to see...last year had two vaccine (rs 10) in july and aug 2015...pls suggest need to take another vaccine now..am worried for infection..also pls suggest the booster dose detail and when can i take it.

Tetanus not needed . Only once in 5 years . But make sure the wound heals. Use t Bact cream twice daily

Hello there.  I can understand your concern.  You need not take any tetanus shot now as the previous vaccination will have protective power of upto 5 years. You can repeat the tetanus shot around 5 years after your last shot. Clean the wound with clean warm water and it will be enough. Best regards. Dr. Anil kumar jain. Bangalore.

dear friend tetanus prophylaxis is to be taken once in five years, if you have taken a tetanus shot in the preceding five years you need not worry but if not or don't remember please do take it and thereafter remember to take every five year.
