  4. Puss in urine. & ultra sound.

Puss in urine.
My daughter 4yrs old. Suffers pain and burns in her lower abdomen and irregular urine. After urine test, reports came back she is passing puss in urine. My question is what is the cause of this problem. Is it a normal infection or something serious.. ? Dr suggested 7 days course of injections. & ultra sound. Thank you

Hi welcome to Practo Pus in urine suggests Urinary Tract Infection and her clinical symptoms also point towards that. Your Dr has suggested the right thing. Antibiotics need to be started and an urine sample for Urine Culture and sensitivity has to be given before starting antibiotics. Ultrasound abdomen and KUB also needs to be done to look for any involvement of kidneys and related organs. Hope i could clarify...Take care..
