Psychiatry
I could see doctors  saying people who are mentally suffering to seek medical help and suicide is not a problem. Acceptable. But what people like me who cannot afford for the treatment would do? I'm unemployed having OCD and anxiety disorder and also suffering from  depression which has been told by a psychiatrist. I was charged 2000 per sitting. Recommended to continue therapy for months. I couldn't afford. What would I do now? Any of the psychiatrists  ready to provide me treatment without cost atleast for once?

I’m sorry you’ve come to believe that suicide isn’t a problem. It is huge problem and is largely preventable. Any psychiatrist and psychologist would agree that suicide is a huge problem globally. Access to affordable mental health care on the other hand is also a growing problem. The govt of India, through the amended Mental Health care act has created a number of ways for people to access mental health services either through government hospitals or through state welfare programs where certain services are covered by the government for those who can’t afford at participating private hospitals. This is at present variable across the country. Some private insurance providers also cover psychiatric treatments- you may need to look this up locally. Wrt to doctor’s fees, doctors are free to charge as per their experience, local market and other factors just as patients are free to choose their options as per their individual conditions. I hope you will agree that that freedom of choice works both ways. Treatment duration for OCD are longer than mood disorders and average between 6-8 months for first episodes and longer for subsequent ones. Other factors like duration of untreated illness, coexisting mood or psychotic disorders, life stresses, regularity in taking medications, adequate dosing, use of drugs/ alcohol can also influence the length of treatment.
