If you are really worried then go for spot pcr. Much better indicator than cue . If you are using dipstick method for proteinuria assessment then the trend of the values must be taken into consideration rather than single values
So dipstick proteinuria increasing over days you should get spot PCR and 24 hr protein in urine done
On another note infections can trigger proteinuria
They usually settle after the infection
Allergic cough might not increase proteinuria
Next Steps
Please get dipstick at home
Do daily dipstick
If the proteinuria is increasing or if the kid is developing swelling go for spot PCR and 24 hr protein in urine
And approach a nephrologist with the results
Mmf is not the drug of choice for nephrotic syndrome it has been given to save your son from the side effects of long dose steroids .if he's not having any significant odema there is not a lot of reason to worry .but if he gets any infection he will require a small dose of steroids
Next Steps
just keep him under regular follow up and u can get urine strips and check the urine ur self
Health Tips
avoid salty food and oily food , treatment infection as soon as they develop.make him wear mask when going to crowded places
