Problems after Cataract Surgery
Hi, My mother had a cataract surgery a month and a half ago. However after the 10-12 days of the surgery she has been complaining that there is kind of pricking at the corner of the eye and sometimes itching as well! She is consulting an opthalmologist and is using eye drops and ointments as well, but it seems the problem still persists. What can be the possible causes and what should be done? Thanks

First of all, do not panic. Get a checkup regularly with the operating surgeon. Mild discomfort in the first month following cataract surgery can be expected. It is variable in different patients. Avoid touching the eye, wear protective glasses at all times and instill drops as advised. Hope your mother gets well soon.
Next Steps
Follow up regularly as advised by your doctor.
Health Tips
Avoid touching/rubbing/wiping the eye which has been operated during the first month following surgery.
