Ultrasound can diagnose metastatic liver disease. To confirm the type of cancer (whether it has started from the liver itself or it has spread from somewhere else) further tests may be required. These may include blood tests such as AFP, CEA, CA 19.9, etc as well as a biopsy of the mass and even a CT scan
