Preventions for Asplenic Patients
Hi, Last month I had an accident because of which doctors had to perform Splenectomy on me. Now while reading online about the absence of spleen in human body, it keeps making me more and more paranoid. Doctor who performed surgery told me that you can live a normal life and not to worry much. I just want to know what sort of precautions I should take to avoid getting any kind of fatal infections. And what other sort of general precautions I need to take as an Asplenic person. Thanks!

You will require vaccinations and should keep a look out for any infections, and if you feel any of those signs of infection you should visit your treating doctor and start with antibiotics. You should continue to have a healthy lifestyle and continue to keep an eye for any signs of infection.
