Hello All,
My father age 68 years will be undergoing IMRT from next week for squamous cell carcinoma of vocal cords, as per reports cancer is in initial stage.
So my question is what precautions we should take in order to avoid any side effects of radiations therapy.
Should we start any tablets to avoid dysphagia. Any side effects on salivary glands etc.
Thanks a lot for all help and guidance.

With newer machines and techniques side effects are much reduced. All are reversible.
Weekly counts, few mild medications for side effects and multivitamins your doctor will prescribe you.
