My wife was on isotretinoin 10 mg twice daily for her facial acne treatment. We were advised not to plan a baby during course of treatment. After how many days we can think so. Please advice.

Hi. Greetings. You both must be on strict contraceptive measures either physical methods or by using pills while your wife is on isotretinoin. This should be continued at least for one month and For being doubly cautious and if u r in no hurry of having children three months after isotretinoin is stopped, as this is the policy even followed in some countries and in some blood banks. However, if any doubt or if u r on topical retinoids please discuss with a dermatologist near you or send in further queries on follow up chat. Dr Govind Suresh Mittal. Bangalore.
