Hi Doctor, I have severe pigmentation marks on my hands and back Previously i have used trenoitin and salcylic acid ointments but there was not much difference. I want try micro dermabrasion, is this possible and what are the side effects. Are these marks due to harmonal imbalance. Thanks.

There are many reasons for the type of pigmentation you have described. Most likely you must be having macular amyloidosis. It happens if you have been rubbing your skin frequently or due to sun exposure. Use sunscreen daily and stop itching or rubbing skin ( eg with loofah while bathing) to prevent further damage. Peels may help to a certain extent. Talk to your dermatologist if it is suitable for you.
