When phage therapy is available to cure drug resistant bacterial infections, then why don't doctors in india recommends phage therapy, why still many peoples dying of such drug resistant infections?

Bacteriophage is a virus that infects bacteria and may kill it. It is not recommended as the clinical trials are still underway. Also it is very costly, a small wound treatment would cost lakhs to be treated.

There are very less trials and data on it. Also it is effective against very less bacteria. And they are very specific to the organism so there has to be a culture report first before starting it. Cost of any new upcoming therapy is very high same is with this. Also machinery availability is an issue And guidelines are obscure due to lack of proper data. I hope that answers your question.
