While playing football, the knee area muscle is hurt/stretched and while playing or bending it pains. With continuous playing, the condition is worsened. Doctor advised complete rest and not to play, else it can lead to ligament tear.

MRI investigation will be done for proper diagnosis ,in the meantime you consult physiotherapist he or she will thought some shot of exercises and some electrotherapy modalities to reduce your pain

Yet that is true. The ligament is called ACL. It is common if most of football player. So rest would be a good advice. And undergo a proper Physio session for strength training.
