I have been having pain and tenderness around the hyoid bone at the front of my neck for the past several days. Initially, the pain was more on the left side of my neck, but it has now become more localized around the hyoid area. There is no visible swelling, fever, or difficulty breathing. However, I have pain when swallowing food or saliva, and even when I simply mimic the swallowing movement. The area is also tender when pressed. Could you please advise whether this could be due to a muscle/neck strain ?
