Most commonly viral Infection causes upper respiratory tract infection with productive cough. Antibiotic has no role is viral infection. Without evaluation,  taking Antibiotic won't be a good idea. That's how Antibiotic resistance is happening. 
Next Steps
consult doctor. Give full detailed history. negative history also important.  Start antibiotic if required only.
