Nodules development in Thyroid
My mother was diagnosed with tumour in thyroid gland -isthmus( 24*10mm) . It was first detected in september and recent tests have shown no significant growth in size but operation was suggested by doctor. I want to understand how urgent is the operation or if there is any medication which could work on this condition.

Decision to do surgery of thyroid gland depends on pathological diagnosis of the tumor. If the swelling is benign then surgery is not always mandatory and indication for surgery is only cosmetic. If the tumor is malignant then surgery needs to be done at the earliest
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist or oncosurgeon for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
