No sense of smell
Greetings Doctor, my problem is that I have no sense of smell, and as a result, my sense of taste is also gone. I have C.O.P.D. and when treated with prednisone, my sense of smell and taste comes back strong. I have diabetes so I’m limited to the medication to only when having a severe attack. My C.O.P.D. is under control, so no prednisone. I guess my question is, are there any treatments out there for my condition, thanks? Kind regards, LC

Sense of smell is affected wen you either have a nose block or you are not breathing through your nose. When in an acute copd attack you take steroids either the nasal obstruction is relieved or breathing is improving and you are able to breathe through the nose. So you can get your nose examined and see if there is anything obstructing your nose. A steroid spray may be helpful if there is any local cause.
Health Tips
Surgery for the nose may be tricky with your diabetes and copd. So try for non surgical treatment
