No REM sleep
For months now, I have developed this strange ability to wake up wide awake- wide awake meaning like out of bed and unable to go back to sleep. If I do fall asleep, which is a fight in itself, I sleep 3-4 hours and then stay up for an ungodly amount of time and repeat the sleep process until my body just sleeps for a full 8 hours and then I'm up again. Sleep aid doesn't help, working out doesn't help, sex doesn't help, 'Natural remedies', don't help. What do I do now... It's making me emotionally distraught.

Hi. Sleep disturbance can be very frustrating and makes our life miserable. I can very well understand what you must be going through. Sleep disturbance often occurs due to underlying psychological causes. You should consult a psychiatrist and get yourself evaluated. Treatment of the underlying cause and short term use of sedatives will help you get back your sleep.
Next Steps
Seek a psychiatric consultation.
