Hello..., It is not a disease, but rather a symptom of an underlying disorder or problem, it has both genetic and non genetic causes ..treatable causes include cataract ,nearsightedness, retinal detachment , vitamin A deficiency which is rare during these days .. Retinitis pigmentosa is a genetic cause which cannot be cured.. Treatment depends on underlying cause ,consult opthalmologist .
