Breast pain not always occurs in breast,  it can also be caused by structures present underneath breasts also.  By performing a thorough physical examination the origin of the pain can be determined.Searching in the net about this can cause unnecessary fear in you.  Its better to consult a nearby gynaecologist once. I my opinion the pain your wife is experiencing is not likely to be cancerous. It can be caused by simple muscle spasm,  unknown breast injury,  fibroadenoma,  harmone related troubles or cyclical breast pain which can be felt as one sided breast pain.
