Mysthenia gravis
My father is diagnosed with mysthenia gravis and have been on ventilator for a week. Now he is at home with oxygen support. I wish to know that how can we put him off of oxygen support. Because of myshtenia his muscles have become weak and he cannot breathe on his own.

Pls get his abg done on room air( blood report) and check for his lung capacity. Do regular chest physiotherapy which will help to improve his lung function and simultaneously reduce his oxygen under a proper chest physician guidance

You will need regular visits from a physician, who can gradually taper the oxygen support if possible. As and when his myasthenia gravis is controlled and his muscle strenght is adequate, weaning from oxygen can be tried.

Hi. I understand your concern s. He needs a regular follow up with a pulmonologist to assess oxygen requirements. It may take a little longer time to wean off in view of association of myasthenia
