My doctor has suggested contoura lasik
Hi, I went to hospital ( narayana nethralaya)  in Bangalore for my pre lasik tests. I have high myopia power(above -7). After the tests,I was allowed to meet the doctor for just around 45 secs.He looked at reports and told that everything is fine and I am fit for lasik. You can go and meet the counceller for further details. The counceller told me that I had to undergo contoura lasik and I have no other option as doctor has suggested it. It will cost 95k for both eyes. My question is: 1)Is contoura the best surgery available in market or can I go other type of lasik surgery? 2)I think I should have been given atleast few minutes to interaction with  doctor and he should have explained the type of surgery possible in my case taking into consideration my financial aspects also before the final decision. Is this the general trend followed in lasik cases or do you agree with my take above.? Thanks

Recommendations are ok ,the only concern is of explanation by doctor. Please go there and ask the counsellor  to let you talk to doctor before getting operation done .as you are not convinced with his counselling.

Hello, Contoura LASIK is personalised topography guided LASIK, step ahead of standard LASIK. It's esp beneficial in irregular cylindrical power/ uneven corneas. Also it causes less glare while driving at night vs standard LASIK. It adds to quality of vision n not just the quantity . The kind of surgery one vil benefit from is decided based on few points like profession, visual demands, kind of power, corneal thickness, corneal surface (uneven/smooth ),tear film function, retina etc which I guess was covered in your pre LASIK tests. After this patient is provided with options and reasoning for the procedure suggested. Your doc must have been caught up with surgeries and lot more and hence the time constraint. Pls consult with your doc for further clarification.
