I'm worried of rabies. he was barefoot not sure if he had scratches on his foot. small decomposed animal is what he stepped on. nothing left but bones and a grey tail. it had been outside for many days before stepping on it in warm weather.

Most likely , nothing to worry.. Rabies usually happens due to bite of live animals. IF you are really worried regarding rabies; you can opt for "pre exposure prophylaxis", it will help in future too.. http://mayaclinic.in/patient-education/rabies-vaccination-after-dog-bitemonkey-bite/
