I am 55 ,My father had polycystic kidney he died in 2014 at the age of eighty.because of my fathers pkd every year I go for routine check up iupto last year everything was normal but todays test reports sre bit dissapointing for me my serum cretanine is 1.6,uric acid 8.5,blood urea 37 a few pus cells and protein in urine direct bilurubin .5 rest

B/l APCDK is a genetic problem and runs in generations though severity of expression of disease may be less or more.usually starts formation of smaller to large cysts in kidney.genetucs can not be changed but progression severity can be modified by Regular check up with a nephrologist/urologist Regular USG of KUB/CT of KUB  region to detect formation of new cysts,stone formation or obstruction Control of blood pressor if high Protein restricted diet,more carbohydrates to have less load in kidney Avoidence of infection esp. UTI Regular check up for monitoring of old age disease like development of prostatic diseases which may cause lower tract obstruction Few drugs also help to slow down effects to be advised by nephrologist progression is usually very slow.
