Hello. The definitive treatment of mucocele is removal of the saliva-filled cyst along with the minor salivary gland with which the cyst is associated. Though there are many treatment modalities like laser surgery, cryosurgery, injection of sclerosing agents apart from removal of the cyst under scalpel, the conventional treatment modality of removal of the cyst by a scalpel is still considered to have the least chances of recurrence. Also, the results of various treatment options depend upon the size of the mucocele and whether or not the mucocele had recurred before.

Laser removal is best, as it is quick and painless. Removal of mucocele with surrounding minor salivary glands is necessary to avoid its recurrence.
