Metastatic Breast Cancer
Dear Doctor My mother is a metastatic breast cancer patient (metastasized to liver, bones, nodes and brain) She has been receiving treatments since the last one and a half years. Now she is been given immunotherapy. She was given tablets : mirtazapine 15 mg petril beta 10 mg escitalopram 10 mg Does these tablets have adverse effects on any organ, especially renal? Is it habit forming? Can it be stopped? Always confused if she should take these tablets or not.

Some side effects also shown but if your doctor advice those medicine then there should be definite cause. I think u should consult your doctor again or u should consult a onchologist and psychiatrist for 2nd opinion. In many such cases to prevent depression ,homoeopathy is the best choice. In case of prevent or treat depression u can also consult homoeopathic doctor and take proper advice and treatment.

Tablets don’t harm any organ but if organs are damaged, dose needs to be reduced. Given under doctors strict advice, addiction chances are less. Should not be stopped without consulting psychiatrist. If the patient is very sick and is on drugs like morphine, many a times doses are reduced especially if patient is drowsy

In cancer , depression is common. Your doctor prescribed these medicines for that only.. though mirtazapine, ecitalopram , propanolol and Clonazepam digested mainly by liver.. but still so many medicines are not a good idea.. you may ask your doctor to increase the dose of single medicine.. rather than giving her a mix.. already her organs are in compromised state...
