Lymph node swollen

Asked for Male, 54 Years

My mother in law is suffering from pain on her left neck side . We first thought it's tonsils but after visiting doc she informed us her lymph node is swollen . Doc prescribed medication which give her relief but after completing a week course mother in law is complaining about the pain again. We are planing to visit doc again but before that I would like to know is it dangerous lymph node swelling and can it be treated with meds??

Infections are the most common cause of swollen lymph nodes. Infections that can cause them include: Abscessed or impacted tooth Ear infection Colds, flu, and other infections Swelling (inflammation) of gums (gingivitis) Mononucleosis Mouth sores Sexually transmitted illness (STI) Tonsillitis Tuberculosis Skin infections So most painful infective lymph node swelling are medically treatable.
