Lupus Anticoagulant +ve: Trying for Preg
Hi, we have been trying pregnancy last 1.5 yrs, had two chemical and 2 miscarriages(8 th wk, heart beat didnt start at all; 10 th week, heart beat started and then stopped) then did all blood test: lupus anticoagulant positive and ANA screening, PT, PTT, Anticardiolipin & many other test were negative. Rheumatologist asked me to start hydroxycholoroquine 200 mg twice a day. After i get pregnant i stop and start aspirin and heparin. Will this HCQ that i take before prenancy and also which i will be taking during conception have any negative effects in fetus?

Hi! In cases of Lupus about 10% of patients have first trimester abortions. You can take the HCQ with no risks to the foetus in the preconception period. When you get pregnant naturally you do not know when you have conceived and wait till your r pregnancy test is positive to stop the medications .By this time you are already 4-5 weeks pregnant. This is the high risk period . Since you have already lost two pregnancies it would be advisable to go through IVF minimising the exposure of the foetus to HCQ .
