Low BMD test
Hello Dr., my ortho has asked me for a BMD test. I m apprehensive. Is it a Must.? I m 32 kgs weught, 60 years old female, with center back pain. Dr has prescribed me B29 and gemitrol. My Dr is very good and prescribes gud meds.. But about BMD I m getting 2nd minded. Please Advice. Thanks

Hello Bmd is basically a test to see the density of your bones. Low density means weaker bones or less calcium deposition and puts you at risk of fractures. At 60 years, you should have low threshold to get a bmd test. But before bmd test you should get your blood levels tested for calcium and vitamin D. If the tests are normal, you should get a bmd test for sure.
