Monitor the urine output of the baby. If reduced (less than 5-6 times in 24 hours) means dehydration. High coloured urine also signifies dehydration.
Next Steps
start the baby on ors and probiotics. get a stool routine, and a hemogram done to differentiate between viral or bacterial enteritis. if evidence of bacterial infection is present, the baby may require antibiotics.
Health Tips
watch for signs of dehydration, like decreased urine output, lethargy, refusal to feed. confirm whether you have vaccinated your baby with rotavirus vaccine. if using feeding bottle, follow proper sterilization procedure.
