I am a software engineer. I have been suffering from dry eyes for past 2years. My opthalmologist suggested to use carboxymethylcellulose drops daily to keep eyes hydrated and get relief from dryness.
Does carboxymethylcellulose have any side effects like other antibiotic and steroid eye drops?
I read that long usage of antibiotic/steroid eye drops cause glaucoma. So am scared of using carboxymethylcellulose. Is it safe to use carboxymethylcellulose for long time?
Kindly reply me.
Thanks

Carboxymethylcellulose is neither antibiotic nor steroid. It's safe. You can use preservative free eye drop.
Besides that, keep yourself hydrated. Avoid sitting in front of ac or fan. Take breaks while working in front of screen.
