My mother 55y is suffering from anxiety issues lately which causes her to worry about simple things, feel nauseated and weak. She has lost motivation to take up activities. She has a weight loss of 5kgs in a short span. Her blood reports, and other gastric markers are all normal.
Her physician has prescribed Lonazep MD 0.5 at night and feliz-S (10) in the morning.
She feels a lot sleepy after these medicines because of which she doesn't want to continue these medicines.
Is excessive sleepiness an expected effect of this medicine? Are these medicines to be continued for a longer period

Based on the history, it appears to be anxiety with mild to moderate depression. You have not mentioned her blood pressure and blood sugar levels. The drowsiness with the medicines is expected initially but if it’s persisting since long , kindly consult your Psychiatrist.
Next Steps
Consult your doctor if sleepiness is problematic.
