Light black line on nail
Light black/brown vertical line on left hand thumb. Noticed it today. I don't remember any injury on it.
But I am sure that it was not there before. There is no pain. Is this a serious issue?

Hi . greetings. What you seem to have described is longitudinal melanonychia. This is not usually an issue or a problem in people of brown or darker skin and may occur commonly and physiologically. However, if the line is very dark, or extending proximally to the distal skin of the nail fold then you better see s qualified dermatologist and get evaluated. Warm regards.
