LASIK at 54 years
I am 54old and no other health issues. I am using progressive lenses for 6 years. I am not comfortable to use glasses. Can I go for LASIK at 54? What are risks?

Hi It is not very clear if you have significant distance number also or not . We will have to look at each case , check various factors and then decide which procedure will be best for you according to your needs and expectation. LASIK mostly can remove constant number ( minus, plus or cyl) but reading number it cannot remove. There is a an option for blended Lasik or mono vision , but that need to be clearly explained to the patient . Same way , there is PRELEX to remove both numbers but again u need counselling to understand the pros and cons of it and we also need to check your suitability for the same .

It is not advisable to undergo, lasik surgery, at your age.Near vision correction is difficult. If you are not comfortable with proressive glasses,it may also difficult to be comfortable with lasik,unless it is done in expert hands.pl consult Ophthalmologist for further evaluation and treatment.
