Hi!
My ENT doctor has prescribed antibiotics for laryngitis. But I want to be absolutely sure before taking them.
So, what are some of the tests that can confirm if it really is bacterial infection or viral or fungal?
How is swab/culture done? Is it enough?
Thanks

Do you experienced any change in voice? Fever?
Laryngitis is completely diagnosed by throat examination or laryngoscopy
No need of swab culture
Avoid boiling hot water or any hot liquid and voice rest if possible
For detailed discussion kindly consult or call
Laryngitis usually it's viral, avoid cold fluids, excessive talking and taking painkillers excessively
Take steam inhalation, antibiotics required if you have fever or elevated WBC count
For viral it's symptomatic treatment required
