Knee strain
Hello iam a semi professional football player and have been experiencing knee strain and its been a month. I have been doing all knee rehabilitation exercises for 3 weeks. I have slight to no pain in lower part of my knee cap and i cannot make quick movements as it feels very tender to do so. I have a slight limp while walking to avoid any further damage to the tenderness. There is very little swelling in the arey of tenderness. I did some research on patellofemoral syndrome and tendonitis but iam not sure what could be the reason behind this injury. Please help. Thank you.

Get a skyline view of the patellofemoral joint to assess the patella alignment. Work on stretching of the muscles and then slowly start the strengthening program. The instability can also be due to the weakness of the quadriceps and it's inability to maintain the patella in challenging situations.
Next Steps
patella taping tailored and not KT.

Patellofemoral syndrome would be pronounced when straightening the knee, going down stairs. With patellar tendonitis it need not be as clearly painful when doing the movement but is after it. However if the knee feels unstable and swelling is greater (ACL) then it feels like the knee is going to collapse. Other ligament injuries are along the sides, may not be the area of injury... See a physiotherapist for detailed assessment and treatment
