Knee realignment surgery
Hello, I have consulted a local orthopaedic doctor and he has told me after checking my MRI reports that I have stage 2 chondromalacia and a shallow trochlear groove. I have been asked to get a CT scan and xray. The doctor also mentioned that he is pretty sure I will need a 'realignment surgery'. How necessary is this at stage 2 chondromalacia and I really need to know a rough estimate or say cost for the same kind of surgery. I reside in Mumbai. Thanks for the assistance.

Realignment of patello femoral joint is a complex procedure and very rarely done. It depends on how severe is your pain. You should always try conservative treatment before going for surgery.
Next Steps
There are a few medicines which help in restoration of cartilage. Injection of hyaluronate into the knee can help.
