At age of 35 yrs with 98kg wt at 6ft height, I have been a good badminton player till last winters 2015 but this year it has been extremely painful due to knee joints . I got it x-rayed in Sep16 and reported by an Orthodox with some curvature in legs out which has tending effects ever since . When I walk in morning or walk up stairs, my thigh muscles also strain that I cannot walk more than 500 MTR in one stretch or climb 20 steps at most. What is wroNg. ?Pls Suggest ..any physiotherapy or medication I want to recover this loss in lifestyle and inability to do routines.

Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.
Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day.
Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area
Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

firstly you should decrease some weight.Go for badminton but duration should be increased gradually.But good to consult a physiotherapist for the strengthening and stretching of the muscles,he will teach you all the exercises according to the need.

Thank you for your question. Badminton is a good sport but it need a lot of stamina. Your weight is a concern for me. In any sport activities, pressure on our knees increases many fold. Proper warmup and stretching can help. Also see the surface on which you are playing. Clay court can help you. Start from small duration of play and increase gradually.
