Itchy eyes
My left eye is itchy and there is redness and slight watering since 1 week. My doctor advised Olotop DS (Olopatadine Hydrochloride Opthalmic Solution USP 0.2% s/v) one drop in each eye twice a day. I am 6 weeks pregnant (informed the same to doctor), but in online, I read that these drops are not very safe to be used in pregnancy unless very necessary. Any opinions on this please?

Hello Olopatadine has been classified in Pregnancy Category C by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Olopatadine was not tested specifically in pregnant women. Having said that you can keep eyes closed for 2 minutes after instilling the drop to decrease systemic absorption. Moreover you can press area between nose and eye after instilling eyedrop. That will also reduce systemic absorption
