Is Isotroin a safe medicine?
I have severe acne on face, directly correlated to my PCOS (even my dermatologist told me that my acne is due to PCOS). I consulted a gynaecologist and am put on 6 months course for PCOS. In parallel to treat acne on my face, my dermatologist suggested 8 sessions of chemical peels and prescribed Isotroin - 20 mg capsules to be taken 1 every night. I read on the internet that Isotroin has some of the most dangerous side effects and there is a huge risk associated with taking it. So, I need a 2nd opinion on whether it is okay to take Isotroin. My existing conditions: Hypothyroidism (115mcg daily) Vitiligo (recently started expanding to one new site, else it was stable for 4 years) Psoriasis (I had it for 1 year at the back of my neck - size of a 5 rs coin - but completely disappeared now and hasnt returned for more than 2 years) PCOS (irregular periods ~50 days when i dont use medicine) Weight 57, height 5 Feet. Not overweight Age 24, unmarried

Isotretinoin is a safe medication under supervision of a qualified dermatologist. There are certain Do;s and Don'ts and you should know that. There are different ways to achieve a flawless skin after acne and it needs medical interventions and commitment on part of the patient. Acne treatment has multiple stages - to control new breakouts, to clear the sequelae (pigmentation and scars) and to prevent a relapse. An attempt to find out the root cause of acne should be made in every patient or else it keeps recurring. Each phase takes a couple of weeks before we move to the next phase of treatment.
Next Steps
You have multiple skin complaints and online consultaions have limitations. It is better to see a dermatologist in person.
