  4. Irregular Periods. Have it for 21 days?

I have been prescribed - Novelon desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol to regularise my periods whereas on the internet it is mentioned that is for pregnancy control and all basically it is a contraception. So why I have been prescribed this and is this safe to have it for 21 days?
