Irregular menstrual cycle
Hello Doctor, I am 24 years old married lady working in an IT firm. I face irregular menstrual problem from the very beginning. Sometimes my period comes after 2 months/3 months gap. I consulted a doctor 4 years back and got to know I have PCOD. I heard that PCOD can lead to infertility. However I wish to plan for a baby after 2/3 years. I seek your guidance and suggestion regarding this.

Considering your history its suggestive of polycystic ovarian syndrome...Normally people with this will have anovlation (no egg release), oligomenorrhea (scanty periods) or even amenorrhea (no menstrual period)....you may also experience pimples, weight gain, excessive hair growth on your body, sometimes even depression and mood swings etc...You should decrease carbohydrate intake, take foods made-up of whole grains like whole wheat bread, Decrease fat intake and increase protein content. Take high fiber diet, fruits, vegetables but avoid starchy vegetables like potatoes. Take plenty of water avoid sugar drinks....once your cycles regularise you can try for pregnancy... Consult nearest gynecologists they will do the needful.
