Iron drops for 4 months old baby
My 4-month-old baby was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia. The pediatrician checked baby's eyes and prescribed Hemfer iron drops, 1 mL daily. Is this dosage safe for a baby of this age? Please advise.

Ideally hemoglobin level should be checked and iron supplementation done accordingly The hemoglobin may drop during the first few months of life as part of the normal physiological process, though the anemia may be more significant in preterm infants and for many other reasons

Yes . Fine. If the baby was born prematurely or IUGR , it helps in building of storage too
Next Steps
Continue the supplementation for a few months and report back to the Pediatrician ( in case of viral fever, loose motions or any infection, stop iron supplements for that period of time and then continue )
Health Tips
If any stool related issues , discomfort , can give alternate days .
