Interleukin 6 value in diagnosis report
My father aged 68 years ,has been detected Covid positive, it has been 5 days since he is in isolation following the medicines as prescribed by doctor.
Today blood test was done. All reports values are in range except Interleukin 6 which is 7.12 and the range shown in report is 0.00 -5.19
Does it denote any complication or is the report ok?

High IL6 signifies overt immune response of the body against covid infection. 7.12 is high but not significantly high. Levels fluctuates and may be increased or decreased further. Progression the disease is not same in all patients and may be some patients worsen in later stage of the disease course.
So, report is not OK and it denotes potential of further complications.
Next Steps
Oxygen saturation level to be checked very frequently. Hospitalization if Oxygen level is below 93%
Consult doctor immediately through online or fever clinic whichever is available / affordable.
