Intake of turpentine oil
This kid has taken turpentine oil today thinking it as water. It's been around 8 hours the incident occurred . Visited the nearby doctor. He gave some medicines to do vomiting and stools. The vomit and stools seemed fine with no blood. As per the reports , there is little infection found in the found. What do you suggest ? How to proceed further? Is there risk associated ?

Hello there, turpentine oil is a aromatic hydrocarbon. Ideally should not induce vomiting. Observation required for chemical pneumonitis for first 24 hrs. Can also have gastritis associated. Watch for next 24 hrs, if any respiratory distress, drowsiness, vomiting and pain abdomen, go to nearest paediatrician STAT.
