Inquiry Regarding Lupus
Hello, I am in search of information about lupus as I am considering marriage. I recently met a girl who shared her past medical history with me, mentioning that she had lupus, an autoimmune disease. She was diagnosed in 2019, underwent treatment with steroids as advised by her doctor, and successfully recovered in 2021. I'm seeking your assistance to understand if lupus is curable and if there's a possibility of a recurrence. Additionally, I'm curious about the potential for passing the condition to future generations.

Hello Lupus or SLE is an autoimmune disease. It is controllable with medicines but the medicines should not be stopped. Yes there are chances of recurrence, just like other autoimmune conditions like hypothyroidism or Arthritis. She should stay under the follow up of a rheumatologist and she has to keep following up regularly. The disease does not completely disappear but yes it can be fully controlled. This is not due to one single gene, so the chances of the next generation having it are low but not absent.
Next Steps
She should AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT, and get herself evaluated with some routine blood tests and a urine examination. she should be physically checked up as well.
Health Tips
